Changing Finger Movement Perception: Influence of Active Haptics on Visual Dominance

The perception of one’s own body is a complex mechanism that can be disturbed by conflicting sensory information and lead to illusory (mis-) perceptions. Prominent models multisensory integration propose streams are integrated according their reliability approximating Bayesian inference. As such, when considering self-attribution seen motor actions, previous works argue in favor visual dominance over other sensations, internal cues. In the present work, we use virtual reality haptic glove investigate influence an active feedback on agency judgments performed finger action under experimentally manipulated feedbacks. Data overall confirm vision dominates for judgment conditions conflict. Interestingly, also show participants’ sensitive conflicts (vision, proprioception, afferent signals, perception), thus bringing important nuance widely accepted view general dominance.
